Patent filing Sweden
The advantage with filing in Sweden as the first country is that it is low official fees and a quick examination, about 6 months. It also makes it easier for you to get an idea if it will pay off to apply for patents in other countries. A Swedish patent application only relates to Sweden and is submitted to PRV.
Patent filing EPO
The European Patent Convention (EPC) is an agreement between approximately thirty European countries. EPC offers you the opportunity to apply for a patent at the European Patent Office (EPO). EPO in turn examines your patent application and may grant patents in member states. This means that only one application is sufficient but if the EPO grants your application, you must submit a translation of the patent, and pay fees for the countries where you want the patent to be valid.
We assist in filing validations of granted EP-patents. We also assist our clients in filing validations of granted EP-patents in Sweden and the rest of Europe. We are able to present a cost-effective package considering only the claims need to be translated in Sweden.
